Just Because Im Sakuras Twin Doesnt Mean Im Anythi
“is this really the best mission we can get?” i asked as i picked up a piece of paper and threw it in the bag i carried with me.
mimi sighed. “do i really need to explain this to you again?” she asked.
“well, no. i’m just really really bored. i mean how is a mission picking up trash from the local park?”
“yeah! were better then this!” iroku shouted from across the park.
sheshe agreed by throwing her bag on the ground and sitting down cross legged. “i refuse to move until we get a better mission!” she said.
mimi looked down, defeat on her face. “fine, i’ll talk to the hokage about getting a more advanced mission but first we have to finish up this one.”
“yaaaayyy!” sheshe yelled, jumping up. she then started running around the park, so fast that she was a blur. within seconds she stopped in front of us with four trash bags, all full.
“done!” she said, grinning like a child.
one of the bags she held started moving then iroku’s head popped out of the top of it.
“since when am i garbage?” he yelled, glaring at her.
i stifled my laughter as i caught sight of him. he had paper, leaves and a banana peel stuck in his hair.
“since when were you not?” sheshe asked, tilting her head to the side.
iroku growled as he climbed out of the trash and brushed himself off.
on the walk towards the hokage building, we saw more and more ninjas arriving, all for the chunin exams that would start in the next couple days. looking around at all of them i couldn’t help but wonder why mimi hadn’t recommended us for it. i mean i knew we were new as a team but we were still good. we could probably even rival some chunins, well maybe. did she think we weren’t good enough?
mimi led us into the hokage’s room. “lord hokage,” she started. “i request that you give my team and i a slightly more challenging mission. i feel that their talent is being waisted on small mission such as the one we just completed and that they are not able to learn anything.”
i stared at her slightly surprised. so, she thought that we were that good?
the hokage chewed on the end of the pipe for a minute before nodded.
i just barely stopped my mouth from falling open in shock. it was that easy?
he rummaged through a pile of papers before pulling one out and handing it to mimi. “you will have a c rank mission. i want you to bring a scroll to suna. and mimi, if this is a successful mission, i will approve your request.” he said, leaning back in his chair.
a grin broke across her face and she bowed. “thank you lord hokage.”
we followed her out of the building, all of us giving her questioning stares. what was the hokage talking about and what was mimi not telling us?
“okay, go gather four days worth of supplies and meet at the gates in an hour. we need to hurry and leave so we can get back.” she instructed.
i nodded and we all took off in different directions.
when i got home, sakura and mom were in the back yard. mom was working on the garden while sakura was sitting under a tree and talking to her, mom smiling and nodded as she listened.
i quickly packed a few changes of clothes, some bandages and medical stuff, my fans, a few weapons and the gloves that i had bought the other day. after stuffing everything in my bag i headed down to the back yard.
“hey mom, sakura, i’m gonna be gone for the next few days. my team just got our first c-rank mission.” i told them, smiling.
a smirk immediately appeared on sakura’s face. “wow, really? my team has already done an a-rank mission.” she said.
i ignored her. “it should only take about four days, maybe a little longer.” i said.
again sakura interrupted. “well then i’ll tell you about the exams after you return, seeming you weren’t chosen to participate.”
my teeth started grinding against each other, my fist clenched. she was always doing this, always shoving things in my face, always finding ways to prove that she was better then me.
our mom smiled at sakura. “i just have to say again how proud i am that you were chosen to participate. so few first year genin are chosen for this.” she said, gushing over sakura again.
“i have to go,” i said, quickly turning around and heading towards the gates. if i stayed, i knew i wouldn’t be able to handle my temper and i knew i would be in so much trouble with mom because of course, sakura is her favorite.
by the time i arrived at the gate i was still steaming. i couldn’t believe sakura waved that in front of me. she was going to drop out of it and i’m the one who talked her into taking the exams then she rubs it in my face!
“ah, akura. are you okay?” sheshe asked.
“no!” i snapped.
she pulled back, surprise flickering across her face.
i took a deep breath. i, for no reason, should be snapping at sheshe, she’s done nothing wrong, well other then throw iroku in the trash and in the fountain.
“i’m sorry. i . . . i just can’t stand sakura. she rubbed in the fact that she’s going to the exams when we aren’t.” i told her sighing.
“well, why does that matter?” she questioned me.
i sighed. “it’s just that, all growing up, it was always
about sakura. the first time i was praised by my parents was when i first became a ninja and they saw how good i was. being a ninja became my goal so i could prove that i was better at something then she was, and now she’s going to the exams and i’m not, because i’m not good enough.” i explained, kicking the ground in aggravation.
“is that it?” she asked, surprised. “just because she’s going to the exams doesn’t mean she’s better. i mean we just were put on a team two days ago and one of the key components of the chunin exams is teamwork. i’m not saying we’re bad at it, we just haven’t had enough practice. besides, from what i’ve seen of your abilities and what i know about sakura, you are defiantly better then her. all she is after is sasuke.”
my eyes were as wide as dinner plates at the end of sheshe’s speech. were was all her hyperness? when did she become this advice giver?
i threw my arms around her.
“your the best friend ever sheshe! don’t ever leave me!” i cried out.
she laughed, her voice filled with happiness. “of course i won’t, we’re a team. i’ll never leave you guys!”
“so, if your all better how about we start the mission now?” iroku asked, but his smile told me he was with us until the end, just like sheshe.
i nodded, a grin breaking across my face. “let’s go to suna!” i shouted, lunette carrera pas cher, jumping in the air.
mimi laughed at me, giving me a fond look.
we all set out and within minutes sheshe was back to her hyper self.
“after we get back we should all have a party at my house, to celebrate our first c-rank mission! it will be really fun, you guys can all meet my older sister and we can have lots of candy, and we can do karaoke and you guys can stay the night and we’ll have lots and lots of fun!” she cried out, throwing her arms up in the air.
i couldn’t help but chuckle at her. she was like my real little sister.
by nightfall we were reaching the border. the forest was starting to fade and was slowly turning to desert.
“we’ll rest here for tonight and tomorrow we’ll be in suna. if everything goes as planned, we should be back in time for you three to sleep and pack for the chunin exams.” she told us.
i froze, what?
“what do you mean?” iroku asked.
“i recommended you three for the exams. the other junin were skeptical seeming you had just been placed. they refused. the hokage has the decision to override their choice and if we complete this in time, you three will be able to partake in the exams.”
a grin broke across my face.
we’re gonna compete! take that sakura! your little sister is gonna be better then you!
we all made camp consisting of a fire and blankets spread around. iroku and sheshe were almost immediately asleep.
“i’ll take the first watch, you can get some sleep!” mimi told me, leaning against a tree.
i nodded. i closed my eyes and was almost immediately asleep.
it was about two hours later that i woke up, the need to go to the bathroom almost overpowering.
i sat up. mimi looked in my direction.
“i gotta pee!” i told her.
she chuckled and nodded before i headed to the woods.
after relieving myself i headed back to the camp, but froze as i came nearer to it. everything was oddly silent.
i quickly pulled out my fans, not making a noise. creeping back to the camp sight, i saw that everyone was out. mimi was slumped over on her side, a pained expression on her face. and standing in the middle, was a man wearing a black coat with red clouds as a design.
my fans made the quietest of clicks as they slid open then almost instantly his face was in front of mine, blood red eyes surrounded by ebony hair locking with my own.
almost immediately, everything faded black. there was no noise, no nothing besides the endless black, i was alone. then everyone i knew appeared, weapons in hand and rage on their faces. then all at once, they attacked.
i blinked, knowing this wasn’t happening yet i could feel the cuts appearing all over me.
i ignored it knowing i just had to wake up! just wake up!
i blinked and everything came back into focused, the man in front of me looking slightly surprised before his face became emotionless.
“who are you and what did you do to mimi?” i questioned, bringing my fans up.
he ignored me and walked over to where sheshe was sleeping.
i ran in front of her. “i’m warning her. if you even touch anyone here, you’ll be sorry!”
he glared at me. “your pathetic!”
with that he tried to put me into another genjutsu. i don’t know how but i could feel it trying to take over and i was able to fight it off. i swung both fans out, adding enough chakra to them to cause blades of sharp air to shoot out towards him.
he jumped backwards, almost avoiding everything but a thin line of blood appeared on his cheek. he raised his hands to the cut then looked at the blood in surprise.
“what do you want?” i questioned, my voice hard.
“hn, seems i was wrong. your not as pathetic as i assumed.” he said, ignoring me again. “but you’ll still die.”
he jumped towards me, almost to fast for me to see. i barely had enough time to raise my fan and divert his direction, causing him to land a foot to my left. he threw two kunais at me, one making a deep gash in my arm, the other stabbing into my thigh. he kicked out, landing it in my ribs as i was overcome with pain.
i sucked in a breath as he kneed me in the stomach.
i fell to the ground, my arms around my stomach.
he went to sheshe and slung her over his shoulder.
“i told you not to touch her!” i said, my voice starting out weak. “you can’t have her!”
then something changed, it felt like something inside me broke, like a dam. and a tidal wave of energy came pouring out.
i ran at him, the fastest i’ve ever been before. i swished my fan at him but he dodged every air blade, move farther away each through.
then he sent a wave of kunias at me. i blinked and a crystal shield materialized in front of me. i blinked in surprise as the kunias hit the crystal, and bounced back, aiming at the man.
he blocked them.
i made a throwing motion towards him and crystal senbon needles and kunias went flying towards him. he jumped out of the way, but they just swerved to follow him.
one kunia stabbed him in the arm and he dropped sheshe. the face he then looked at me with showed pure disbelief.
i took a second to stare at my fans in disbelief. what was going on?
the man made another motion to pick up sheshe.
“you try and touch her again and you’ll lose an arm!” i yelled at him, as hundreds of kunias appeared around me, all made of purple crystal.
“i’ll be back for her. this isn’t the end.” he said before fading back into the tree line.
as soon as he was gone, mimi’s eyes snapped open in fright.
i ran over to sheshe, lunettes carrera pas cher, ignoring mimi for the moment.
sheshe appeared unharmed, just in a deep sleep. i picked her up and carried her back to her blankets.
mimi then fell down on her knees next to me, wrapping her arms around me. she buried her face into my shoulder, tears running down her face.
i froze in surprise.
“he showed me your death, over and over again and i was the one doing it! it was so real! i thought you were actually dead!” she said.
“who was that man?” i asked her, hoping to get some answers.
“itachi uchiha. where did he go? what made him leave?” she questioned.
i quickly told her all that had happened while she just stared at me wide eyed.
“try and create something out of crystals.” she told me.
i gave her a surprised look but did it anyways. she couldn’t really think it was me that had done that, could she? i cupped my hand, lunette de soleil carrera, thinking of a small dolphin.
it immediately appeared, shimmering in the light from the fire.
i gave a shriek of surprise and dropped the dolphin on the ground.
“incredible!”
i ignored her, not wanting to think what these crystals meant for the second. “who is itachi?”
she sighed and sat down, pulling me down next to her.
“itachi was once a konoha shinoba. he was amazing. he graduated from the academy at age 8 and became anbu soon after. he was a prodigy then one day, he just went crazy. he murdered everyone in his clan, leaving only his little brother alive. then he disappeared and joined the akatsuki. he is an s-ranked criminal and you were able to fight him. you made him run. you made him bleed.” she said, her eyes wide. “i’m so proud of you!”
she hugged me again, her arm hitting where i had been hit with his kunia.
i winced and she pulled away, immediately going for the bandages.
“mimi, does that mean that sasuke is itachi’s brother?” i asked.
she slowly nodded, carrera lunettes, a solemn look on her face.
a wave of guilt hit me as i thought back to the night i had fought him on the roof. no wonder he seemed so pissed when i mentioned his family, and so mad when he told me about his brother. i shook it off for the second. i’d talk to him later about that.
“why did he want sheshe?”
mimi sat back, having finished with my wounds.
“sheshe was a rare and powerful kekkei genkai. with one part of it, she is basically able to control people.” i nodded thinking of what she had told me. “many people want that power. it’s why her clan are so protective of their children when they are young. when they get older they learn how to control that power and are virtually in almost no danger, as long as they have time to activate their power.”
i nodded again, my eyes falling to the sleeping sheshe.
to have to live with something like that, that power to take someone’s will away and be wanted by everyone like that. well, no one would touch her. she was like a little sister, no one was going to hurt her while i was here. no one!
